The exomoon corridor for multiple moon systems

چکیده
ABSTRACT The so-called ‘exomoon corridor’ is a potentially powerful new tool for identifying possible exomoon hosts, enabled by the observation that fully half of all planets hosting an will exhibit transit timing variation (TTV) periodicities 2–4 epochs. One key outstanding problem in search exomoons, however, question how well methods we have developed under single moon assumption extend to systems with multiple moons. In this work, use N-body simulations examine corridor effect more general case N ? 1 moons, generating realistic TTVs produced satellite akin those seen outer Solar System. We find indeed relationship does hold up 5 moons both resonant and non-resonant chain configurations. Our results suggest observational bias against finding large numbers massive moons; as number increases, total mass ratios are generally required be significantly lower order maintain stability, or architectures must finely tuned survive. Moons impact capture scenarios may therefore dominate early detections. Finally, distribution TTV periods measured Kepler objects interest (KOIs) same characteristic several cases. This could dynamical evidence abundance field, though caution strong inferences based on result.

The corridor problem with discrete multiple bottlenecks
This paper presents a transparent approach to the analysis of dynamic user equilibrium and clarifies the properties of a departuretime choice equilibrium of a corridor problem where discrete multiple bottlenecks exist along a freeway. The basis of our approach is the transformation of the formulation of equilibrium conditions in a conventional “Eulerian coordinate system” into one in a “Lagrang...

The Steiner Multigraph Problem: Wildlife Corridor Design for Multiple Species
The conservation of wildlife corridors between existing habitat preserves is important for combating the effects of habitat loss and fragmentation facing species of concern. We introduce the Steiner Multigraph Problem to model the problem of minimum-cost wildlife corridor design for multiple species with different landscape requirements. This problem can also model other analogous settings in w...
متن کاملComputation for the Corridor: Ubiquitous Computing Systems for Social Spaces
This position paper motivates the need for ubiquitous computing systems to act as social mediators within organizations, and proposes that such systems be situated in the various shared public spaces of the workplace. We present a set of design challenges towards making such systems a reality, and describe our early efforts towards these goals.
متن کاملCorridor Selection and Fine Tuning for the Corridor Method
In this paper we present a novel hybrid algorithm, in which ideas from the genetic algorithm and the GRASP metaheuristic are cooperatively used and intertwined to dynamically adjust a key parameter of the corridor method, i.e., the corridor width, during the search process. In addition, a fine-tuning technique for the corridor method is then presented. The response surface methodology is employ...
